While the “Boat and Tote” (originally designed in 1944) gained popularity as a tote, L.L .Bean also produced a waxed canvas duffle bag, first appearing in catalogs in 1934 as “Bean’s Zipper Duffle Bag.”. This bag, made from heavy-duty “duck” canvas, featured double leather handles and a full-length zipper.
This item in particular features a Scovill zipper, which were used frequently by L.L Bean during the 1980s
